DOCT project meeting at Altair: progress in the development of the digital twin and in the classification of data
On October 9 and 10, 2024, the DOCT project meeting took place at Keysight's premises in Böblingen, as Altair's premises are currently being renovated. Around 25 participants came together to discuss the work of the last few months of the project and the latest findings.
As a leading provider of innovative engineering software, Altair enables companies to shorten development times and reduce costs across the entire product life cycle - from concept design to ongoing operation. Altair was able to provide an insight into this during an exciting company tour. A central point of the meeting was the classification, labeling and reduction of measurement data. It was discussed how these various measurement and simulation data can be efficiently combined in a test plan to ensure optimal further processing. The aim is to develop a lean and functional measurement system.
Altair is leading the work package “Conception of the digital twin”. The aim of this work package is to create a realistic representation of radio reality. This will be achieved by designing and developing a processing pipeline using AI methods that will contribute to the efficient characterization of the data obtained. The developed AI model will analyze both measured and simulated data. In addition to characterizing a subset of relevant radio scenarios, the model should be able to extract the critical scenarios and generate compact new scenarios from them.
Optionally, the AI-based model should be able to transfer new radio scenarios to other frequencies and environmental conditions using transfer learning (TL). Particular attention is paid to ensuring that the results of the AI-based analyses are visualized in an understandable and comprehensible way.
These topics were discussed in detail in several workshops. Partners presented their work and initial results were presented. Initial preparations also began for the final event, which will take place at Mercedes-Benz in June 2025.
About DOCT:
The DOCT project (Digital Over-the-air Connectivity Twin) runs over a period of 36 months. The aim of the project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action, is to significantly increase the level of system security and accelerate the development of connectivity systems. Automated driving and infotainment functions used in parallel are placing increasingly complex demands on the modern connectivity system. Creating a digital development environment for secure and robust connectivity systems enables costs to be reduced and resources to be conserved. At the same time, complete validation of the cellular system can increase road safety. Last but not least, Germany as a business location also benefits by accelerating transformational innovations in the connectivity sector.
